21–24 November 2017
November 2017 will see big auctions held at Palais Dorotheum once again. The offerings include works of modern art, contemporary art, jewellery and watches.
Contemporary art in the spotlight
A dinosaur in its egg as a self-portrait – Martin Kippenberger, with his depiction of a dinosaur in its egg, will be one of the highlights of the contemporary art evening sale on 22 November. The two contemporary art sales on 23 November will offer a broad spectrum of Austrian and international contemporary art, including two outstanding paintings by Maria Lassnig, works of the Italian avant-garde of the 1960s, such as by Lucio Fontana and Enrico Castellani, works by the Cobra group, as well as Georg Baselitz, Heinz Mack, Gotthard Graubner, and many others.
Two drawings by Egon Schiele
Drawings by Egon Schiele, a “Reclining Woman” from 1917 and a “Female Head” from 1918, will be in the focus of the modern art sale on 21 November. One year before the 100th anniversary of Schiele’s death, Dorotheum offers two impressive works from the last two years in the life of this most important and most radical draughtsman of the twentieth century. Gabriele Münter’s “View of the Mountains” has arrived just in time for her 140th birthday, which is also slated for exhibition in Murnau.
