What does the Big Bang have to do with crypto currencies and Swiss luxury watches?
The engineers of the well-known luxury watch maker Hublot had put a lot of thought into the “Big Bang Meca-10 P2P”, presented in 2018 to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Bitcoin. The handmade wristwatch with the reference number 414.CI.5190.VR.XBT18 was limited to 210 pieces and could only be purchased with Bitcoins (BTC). This number is a reference to the maximum number of Bitcoins, which is capped at 21 million. Each piece has a unique engraved transaction number on the watch case.
Bitcoins, block chain and NFT are just a few of the new buzzwords used in classic auctions. Hublot’s Big Bang Meca-10 P2P is a symbiosis of new technology and traditional watchmaking craftsmanship.
